The 5 Hole: Detroit Rocked City

The prevailing thought after the Islanders 3-2 loss in Washington on Thursday night was that despite the disappointing finish, the team had played one of its better games of the year against elite competition. They owned possession, took a ton of shots, skated better and were more physical than in recent memory.
That effort coupled with a 5-3 win against Minnesota had Jack Capuano feeling optimistic about where his team was as they welcomed Johnny Boychuk back to the lineup.  Unfortunately, all those good feelings went away quickly Saturday afternoon as the Islanders were blasted 5-1 in Detroit and are now out of a top 3 spot in the Metropolitan Division.

Hide your eyes from the standings for a few days

The only thing worse than trailing 4-0 after 2 periods, is having to wait a hour for the 3rd to start

The question we have been asking for years.
