The 2021 AHL season has not had the kindest start for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, but the team turned things around on Wednesday with a 5-3 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The Sound Tigers needed to grind out the win after trailing three separate times throughout the game.
"The intensity was there, the battles were there…I thought we found a way to win."

It was a career-game for Samuel Bolduc who led a three-goal third period for Bridgeport with three points (one goal, two assists). Â Bolduc scored the game-tying goal and then assisted on the following two goals.

Bridgeport was able to hang in the game thanks to goaltender Jakub Skarek, who made 29 saves while the Sound Tigers were outshot 32-18. Despite being the difference in shots, the game went back-and-forth for the first 45 minutes. Every time Hartford would score, Bridgeport followed with an answer.
The Sound Tigers finally took their first lead on the game with less than seven minutes remaining in the third period when Cole Bardreau deflected a shot past Hartford’s netminder Tyler Wall, who was making his pro debut.
After Dmytro Timashov netted an empty net goal, the Sound Tigers were able to comfortably coast to their first win of the season.
Seth Helgeson and Simon Holmstrom scored the first two goals for Bridgeport in the second period.
The Sound Tigers will look to start rolling with a winning streak next time out, but it will not be easy as they get to face the Providence Bruins once again. So far, Bridgeport has played the Bruins twice, losing 4-1 and 5-3.
