The 5 Hole: No Love in Philly

As the snow created havoc among the Northeast, the New York Islanders were trying to weather a different storm that has ravaged them as of late. That storm was a 5-9-2 December swoon and three straight losses being outscored 15-4. But now at the exact halfway point of the season — game number 41 — tonight in Philadelphia, the Isles had a chance to turn the tide and get back on the right track. Doug Weight called his troops out yesterday after their 6-1 defeat to the Bruins Tuesday, so myself and many others expected the Islanders — now on the outside looking in for a playoff spot — to come out with intensity and pride.
Thomas Greiss got his first start since mid-December, as the Isles once again fell behind and couldn’t recover in a 6-4 defeat. New York has now lost four in a row and been outscored 21-8. Recap below:
