The 5 Hole: We Back

The Islanders (20-17-9) continue their home stand by facing off against the Canadians (29-13-7) Thursday night in Brooklyn. The Isles came out ready to play and Andrew Ladd notched the games first tally 13:07 into the first period. The second period  seemed like they took their foot off the gas for a little bit and it allowed Montreal to tie the game up due to a Shea Weber slapper deflecting off Greiss and in. Just not a solid period all around. Clutterbuck left during the second period due to injury and would not return. The third period however was a different story. Isles came out firing at all angles. Chance after chance after chance, they berated Price with shots from all over until no other than Mr. Andrew Ladd sniped on over the glove of All-Star goalie Carey Price to finally break through and take the 2-1 lead. Greiss, again, remains hot and has another great game in net. 4:47 left in the game and 4 seconds into a powerplay, a face off is won back to Bailey and he claps an on-edge puck past a screened Price and the Isles have a 3-1 lead. That was Bailey’s 32nd point of the season. With under 3 minutes left, Lee gets called for roughing and Montreal pulls the goalie. Isles penalty kill comes up huge, the entire 6on4 concluded with zero shots. Isles have a 6 game point streak heading into the All-Star break. This was our first win against the Canadians since April 10th, 2014. BTW, Tavares has 15 points in his last 7 games.
