With the NHL trade deadline ending in under 24 hours, their was still business to take care off on the ice for the Islanders. After winning their first three games of this seven game road trip, they were in Edmonton for a date with the Oilers. This match-up was the second and final meeting between the two teams this season. The Islanders pounded the Oilers 8-1 back on Super Bowl Sunday thanks to a Kyle Okposo hat trick. Tonight was not reminiscent of that performance from just a few weeks ago, as the Isles fell to the Oilers 3-1. The loss leaves the record on the road trip at 3-1-0 as the team will look to rebound on Tuesday in Vancouver. Social media hits can be found below from tonight’s frustrating defeat.
The Waiting Is Over!
The moment we've all been waiting for….Ryan Pulock in an NHL game! #isles

Always the comedian.
With completion of his 1st @NHL shift @rpulock has now qualified for 0% financing on purchase of any @Honda #isles pic.twitter.com/MrdZkcOP7p

I was just asking myself the same thing.
Why hasn't Boulton beat up Kassian yet?
— Rookie Example (@KeithLHHockey) February 29, 2016
SCREAMS SABOTAGE AT TOP OF HIS LUNGS!
Pulock out there with Strait. God damn sabotage. #isles
— Golt73 (@IslesGeorgia) February 29, 2016
Both seem highly likely.
Trying to figure out if the ice is really bad tonight or if the #isles passes are really that sloppy
— Bryan Larson (@Islanders1932) February 29, 2016
How many times have I heard this? Too many.
Holy dangle Strome! If only he got it back to JT #isles
— Michael Schuerlein (@islesblogger) February 29, 2016
Analysis.
Butch is dead on. #Isles have sone a great job in their own end so far
— Jeff Capellini (@GreenLanternJet) February 29, 2016
Oh do we hope so.
Ryan Pulock is Nick Leddy 1.5?
— Reagan King (@ReaganKingIsles) February 29, 2016
What’s number four?
Intermission goals: 1. Don't fall asleep. 2. Stay awake. 3. Eyes open. #isles
— Michael Schuerlein (@islesblogger) February 29, 2016
Very nice! How much?
#Isles have allowed two goals through 205 minutes played during the road trip. That's 10 periods and five minutes. Halak has been THAT good!
— Michael Zahn (@miczahn) February 29, 2016
Silky mitts.
Besides Ryan Pulock making his #NHL debut, this was the most exciting thing during that period. #Isles #Strome pic.twitter.com/uOtjzLIDJP
— Gotham SN (@GothamSN) February 29, 2016
Super fun.
Watching Pulock rip it from the blue line is going to be fun. #isles
— Jeff (@islesfan28) February 29, 2016
Spot on.
Ryan Pulock made his first PP shift and is already better than 80% of roster on PP #Isles
— Mike Pankowski (@mikepankowski) February 29, 2016
Cue the music.
We've got 51-91-21 now for #Isles. It begins.
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) February 29, 2016
Man do I wish I was around back then.
#Oilers and #Isles giving us shades of 1983… WOW!
— Beer League Heroes (@BeerLeagueHeroe) February 29, 2016
The New York Islanders?
Now for the award for best line combination – "and the nominees are…" #Isles

Just to Sweet.
Interesting sequence here. Clendening takes a puck to the chest/face, Cizikas scoops it and rips one home 1-0 Isles pic.twitter.com/nrjtJDsxWo

Exactly!
GOOOOALL!!!! #Isles ouch oilers

Running out of words to describe how much I love them.
Dat 4th line again ?. #Isles
— Brian Sendek (@b_sendek95) February 29, 2016
“Strange Magic”.
Of course Boulton helped cause that goal. He stepped on the ice for three seconds and then Cizikas scores off the next face off. 1-0 #Isles
— Michael Zahn (@miczahn) February 29, 2016
Making his CASE, get it?
8 points in last 8 games for Zeeker!
— IslesBlog (@IslesBlog) February 29, 2016
Buzzer sounds.
#Isles up 1-0… Butch begins chirping for them to 'Chip & Chase' in 5..4…3…2…1…

Without a doubt.

Everybody take cover!
Leddy killed a guy with a shot because that's not Pulock's job just yet.
— Dominik & LHHFriends (@LHHockey) February 29, 2016
Scratches head, but marvels at the fact.
Cizikas now with 23 points — same as Strome, and three shy of Lee and Bailey.
— Eric Hornick (@ehornick) February 29, 2016
What world is this? Seriously?
On #NHL Trade Deadline eve, Eric Boulton just skated on a line with John Tavares. #Isles

Hmmmmm…
what is that, a whiteboard for ants?! pic.twitter.com/htsVpwjq84
— Stephanie (@myregularface) February 29, 2016
I’m sure you were.
I was much more comfortable when we had a seven goal lead. #Isles
— Ryan Moroney (@ob1moroney) February 29, 2016
Both points are obvious.
Halak has to have that. Then again, #Isles should score more.
— Jeff Capellini (@GreenLanternJet) February 29, 2016
Hangs head.
I don't think this one is meant to be folks… #isles
— ComeHomeStanley (@ComeHomeStanley) February 29, 2016
Or how about every year.
This reminds of last year in EDM #isles
