With the Metro as tight as it is, the Islanders were well aware how crucial the next 48 hours could be, starting tonight in Buffalo. New York currently sits tied for the final wild card in the spot in the division with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but playing an inferior opponent — like the Sabres — the Isles knew they could take nothing for granted.
The Isles were also looking to bounce back from a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the Maple Leafs from their last appearance on the road, eight days ago. Doug Weight’s crew was also looking to rebound from tough 5-4 loss in overtime Monday evening.
In a must win situation, the Islanders came back from 3-0, but eventually fell 4-3. They will look to salvage this three-game stretch tomorrow night against Detroit. Social media hits below:

the BEST thing about being an #isles fan is the amount of times you can say “that was the worst loss of the season” and be made to look foolish within weeks

Questionable decisions lead to an all-for-nothing comeback defeat. Impressive that they rallied, but this is a game they should have had. #Isles https://t.co/MRBYiwzgkY
