“I totally see mirroring of myself in AJ,” said Wladimir Klitschko yesterday at the New York City press conference to build up hype for his April 29 showdown with IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in London. “I’ve been there, done that and, as a little older person, you can understand the circle of life and that the person going after you is going to have the same experience as you have. These experiences you can’t buy in a shop; you need to gain it through your life, and that’s what I see in Anthony. And he is, in a certain way, a copy of me size-wise and skill-wise, just with a different look. He definitely reminds me of me, and in a certain way I can totally read him.” Soon to be 41-year-old Klitschko is basically suggesting that he is the original and the 27-year-old Joshua is the copy. There does seem to be a very self-assured quality in Klitschko’s demeanor about this fight with Joshua. As if he has learned some important insider information about Joshua during there many days spent together in training camps and sparring. For Klitschko to say he can “totally read” Joshua is a very powerful verbal psychological blow: I know what you can do – I know what you can’t do – You can do nothing to surprise me and so I already know what I have to do to win the fight. Based on the press conference in New York and this potential tell tale clue suddenly I am now leaning heavily to the experience of Klitschko to defeat Joshua on April 29. – Scoop Malinowski
