The 5 Hole: Jetting into the New Year

The Islanders were looking to head into 2017 with a victory and make it four wins in their last five games as they traveled to Winnipeg for a date with the Jets. After losing in Minnesota leading to Jaroslav Halak being put on waivers yesterday, Thomas Greiss played his first game officially as the Isles starter, while Casey Cizikas returned to the lineup after missing a few games in place of Anthony Beauvillier.
On to the game, where the Islanders prevailed 5-1 in a dominating performance. The Isles are now 10-0-1 in their last 11 New Year’s Eve affairs, and now will get a five day break before playing Friday in Colorado.
