The Islanders were looking to head into 2017 with a victory and make it four wins in their last five games as they traveled to Winnipeg for a date with the Jets. After losing in Minnesota leading to Jaroslav Halak being put on waivers yesterday, Thomas Greiss played his first game officially as the Isles starter, while Casey Cizikas returned to the lineup after missing a few games in place of Anthony Beauvillier.
On to the game, where the Islanders prevailed 5-1 in a dominating performance. The Isles are now 10-0-1 in their last 11 New Year’s Eve affairs, and now will get a five day break before playing Friday in Colorado. Everyone have a safe and happy new year and enjoy the happy recap from tonight’s game:
I'm more than a little bummed the Jets didn't call up Brian Strait and Kevin Czuczman from Manitoba for this game against the #Isles.

John Tavares has 26 pts, Josh Bailey has 23. If Bailey catches him somehow, #isles Twitter will piss all over themselves. #slapshotref

#Isles have scored at least 4 goals in 5 straight games. Not a bad way to end the year.

New Years Eve is probably a little less miserable with a 4 goal lead #isles
