The 5 Hole: Sens Elect To Beat Isles

The Islanders (11-13-6) host the Senators (17-11-3) on a Sunday night in Brooklyn. Berube gets another start. A couple close calls for both sides to kick off the game but it’s Ottawa that kicks off the scoring. Cherry Hill native, Bobby Ryan takes a shot off the arm while falling towards the net on a 3on2. Hammond stays down after a flurry in front of his net and was replaced with Condon. Stone buries one with 2:40 left to put the Isles down 2-0. First period ends with the Isles rightfully being booed of the ice.
Lee keeps his hot streak going scoring his fourth goal in the last six games (18 points, 31 games) to make it 2-1 early in the 2nd. We had a proposal in front of the YeSUV which was more interesting than the game during this stretch during the second period. Beauvillier wakes us up as Hamonic finds him for a breakaway and he puts it post and in tying the game at 2. Seconds after the goal Hickey takes a holding penalty and it was a matter of time before Ottawa answered. Stone gets his second of the night on the powerplay, 3-2 OTT. Isles penalty kill now 7 for last 15 so even that has now caught up with the trend of this years Isles team.
Tavares seems to score after splitting the Ottawa defense and it looked good live but a quick review showed it went crossbar, post, and out. No goal about 5 minutes into the third. Andddddd minutes later, Brassard finds a Stone shot that came off the boards and puts the Sens up 4-2. Sens get an empty net goal with over 3:27 left due to the Isles attempt at another man at the tail end of a 5on3 powerplay. OTT up 5-2 late.  Isles get another powerplay with 2:36 left and the hockey gods must be pissed because this powerplay led to many great chances that unbelievably found a way to stay out. Yet Ottawa gets another empty net goal. 6-2 final. End games after the second period please.
