#LateNightIslesTwitter is back
In an attempt to get back on track the Isles (5-8-4) head out to Cali and start a three game west coast trip in Anaheim (9-7-3). After Beauvillier takes a hooking penalty only :38 into the first the Ducks went up 1-0 soon after thanks to a Fowler point shot.
Here we go again…
However it was Pelech that woke us up with a point shot of his own to tie things up at one with 8:09 left in the first. Pelech’s first NHL goal forced us to stay awake for longer than we anticipated on this Tuesday night. Greiss had an outstanding game tonight, just an amazing performance kept the Isles in the game especially in the third and overtime and coming up huge during breakdowns in the D-Zone. The Islanders powerplay was in rare form tonight. Puck movement, no forced passes and (finally) pucks to the net which is something we’ve yet to see this season. Clutterbuck took a hit during the second period and did not return. All we know as of now is “upper body injury”. More on the injury front, Hamonic, only 18 since he broke his thumb, fell awkwardly on his hand which sent him straight down the tunnel but thankfully returned moments later. The Ducks picked up the intensity to begin the third and Rakell tied the game at two with 10:52 left in regulation.
Is it really an Islander game this year if you don’t get that feeling in your gut they’re gonna blow it in the final minute?
But for the 5th time in the last 8 games they Isles need more than 60 minutes as we head to overtime which also isn’t enough because who needs sleep, right?
Greiss stays strong in the shootout and after an emotional rollercoaster 14 rounds, Nick Leddy comes through in the longest shootout in Isles history and the Islanders pick up a big two points on the West coast which is also their first road win of the year.
Are the Isles back? Or was this just a fluke?
Either way we’ll see you tomorrow night in LA but for now here the best of #LateNightIslesTwitter
We started off optimistic…
*Lets. Get. A win.

Different feeling being on the other side for once
Odd to see a team commit bad penalties just as much as us. Not sure I'm ok with this #isles
