It’s been 23 years, but tonight the Islanders were finally part of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Just three nights after John Tavares scored a wrap around to win the series, they were back in the same state they were in the first round this time in Tampa for their first showdown with the Tampa Bay Lightning. This experience was something new to not only the younger fans of the fan base, but to the players. The hope was that everyone would embrace the challenge, and they did stealing game one with an impressive 5-3 victory. They take a 1-0 series with game two Saturday afternoon. Social media recap is here.
