IBO Boxing Honesty and Integrity
Just “ONE MORE!” That was the message ingrained into the hearts and brains of all Isles fans after seeing Alan Quine wiz that shot past Roberto Luongo early Saturday morning. It’s been 23, yes 23 years since the Islanders have won a playoff round. Tonight was going to be the culmination of 23 years of anger and frustration for a very proud organization. After missing their opportunity last year against Washington, everyone in their right mind knew the Islanders had to finish the job tonight. With an electric Barclays Center crowd behind them, the blue and orange just like in 1993, won in double overtime in dramatic fashion, 2-1. And who else got them the win, non other than the captain: JOHN TAVARES. The Islanders now move on to the second round to face the Tampa Bay Lightning.
