In this edition of the IslesBlog Podcast, Joe Buono is joined by the “Wayne Gretzky of hockey photography,” Bruce Bennett to talk about his new book Hockey’s Greatest Photos: The Bruce Bennett Collection and his career in hockey. 
For over 40 years and 5,000 games Bruce Bennett has captured hockey’s iconic moments, historic goals and most colorful personalities. For this book, he chose 246 images out of an archive of over 2 million to create his definite collection over the last four decades. Bennett’s career includes 35 Stanley Cup Finals, 26 All-Star Games, the Winter Olympics and over 4,500 NHL Games. Bruce has been the team photographer for for several Stanley Cup winning teams including the New York Islanders, New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils.
In the interview, we discuss his inspiration and process for determining which photos would make the book,  his relationship with players, the back stories behind some of his most iconic Islanders photos and advise he has for young photographers looking to break into the industry.
