Isles Lock Up Lee On A 4 Year Deal

After being a healthy scratch in Games 6 and 7 of the Isles’ playoff series vs the Washington this Spring, Anders Lee showed he holds no ill will towards the team and Garth Snow showed the front office still believes in the 24 year old winger, signing him to a 4 year deal worth a reported $3.75 million per season.
“Anders has proven to be an effective goal scorer over his two seasons with the club,” Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said. “We’re thrilled to have another home-grown talent signed long term.”
As a rookie last season, Lee scored 25 goals and 41 points in 76 games playing first on the “Kid” line with Brock Nelson and Ryan Strome before excelling at LW on the top line with John Tavares and Josh Bailey. Fans may forget now, but Lee started the season in Bridgeport, playing 5 games for the Sound Tigers before getting called up and sticking with the team the rest of the season.
Last year was technically Lee’s rookie season despite having 9 goals and 5 assists in 22 games in the 2013-14 season. The Edina, MN native actually made his NHL debut in 2012-13, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 games with the Isles.
“I’m extremely excited to finalize this deal and ensure that I’m a New York Islander for the next four seasons,” Lee said. “The organization has been nothing but first class to me from the moment I was drafted. I look forward to competing for the Stanley Cup in each year while playing in front of the best fans in the NHL.”

Josh Bailey: Snow inked Josh Bailey to a 5 year/$16.5 million deal after he had 11 goals and eight assists in 38 games in the lockout shortened season of 2013, just five goals off his career best of 16. The former first-round pick scored six goals and 10 points over New York’s final 13 regular-season games, helping the Islanders reach the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
Michael Grabner: In 2011, following a 34 goal rookie season and being named a Calder Trophy finalist, Michael Grabner signed a 5 year/$15 million dollar deal. That season, Grabner’s goal total was the most among NHL rookies, and his 52 points were fourth on the team. He had six shorthanded goals, proving to be one of the league’s most dangerous players on the penalty kill.
Kyle Okposo: Okposo agreed to a 5 year/$14 million deal in 2011 following a season where he missed 44 games after he tore the labrum in his right shoulder during training camp in September and underwent surgery. At age 23, Okposo scored just 5 goals and added 15 assists in his 4th NHL season.
