Rangers, Home Finale Single Game Tickets Unlikely to go on Sale

The New York Rangers visit the Nassau Coliseum three times in 2015, but if you plan on purchasing tickets for any of those games, be ready to open your wallet for 20 more.
The team’s ticket office has indicated that all three games against the Blueshirts, as well as the final regular season home game April 11th vs. Columbus, are in such high demand that individual game tickets for those dates are unlikely to go on sale.
According to a ticket sales representative, the team is planning to offer a 21 game package that includes an option to buy tickets to one Rangers game and the regular season home finale (the 1/27 game vs the Rangers is believed to be already sold out). Earlier this season, there was an option to buy 20 game tickets in any denomination, meaning you could buy 5 tickets for 4 games or 2 tickets to 10 games to reserve tickets for any of the Rangers games, but it is uncertain whether or not this option is still available. Fans purchasing the 21 game package would receive playoff rights and the ability to purchase 2 tickets to all playoff home games.
A guest services employee responded “not gonna happen” at a Coliseum kiosk on Saturday afternoon when asked about the possibility of buying single game Rangers tickets. Another ticket representative added, “I don’t think those dates will go on sale.” Following the Boychuk and Leddy trades, the team saw a big increase in the sale of 15 and 22 game packages that included the Rangers games and the final game of the regular season. Partial plan packages, increased season ticket sales and sold out group sales for those dates are all contributing factors to individual game tickets not being made available.
A second option to secure tickets for the Rangers games is to purchase the remainder of the regular season at season ticket pricing. However, fans would be charged for games missed with their money being applied to additional tickets for future weekday games.
In the unlikely event that individual games seats were to go on sale for these games, fans could see a significant price increase as those tickets will likely be priced comparatively to what is being sold on the secondary market. The Islanders have yet to release pricing for individual game tickets for any dates beyond 12/29 vs the Washington Capitals, according to a source.
The sale of these ticket packages should result in strong second half attendance for the team and could result in fewer Rangers fans making their way to Uniondale for the games on Tuesday, January 27th, Monday, February 16th and Tuesday, March 10th.
The Islanders are currently are 27th in the league in attendance, averaging 14,024 fans through 13 home games, playing to 86.7% capacity. Saturday afternoon’s tilt against the Blues was the team’s 5th sell out of the season and this upcoming Saturday night is expected to be the 6th when the Isles host the Chicago Blackhawks.
As of today, the “get in” price for final regular season game at the Nassau Coliseum listed on StubHub is $91.50 for Row L in Section 327. The team has yet to announce any special plans for that game and the increasing likelihood that the team makes the playoffs should keep those prices more manageable than originally anticipated. In comparison, the Tuesday, January 27th game vs the Rangers is priced slightly lower at $90.93 in Section 329 Row L.
