New NIL Rules Garner UGA Golfer Phillips Deal With GSE

Trent Phillips

GSE Worldwide today announced that they have signed Trent Phillips out of the University of Georgia to the first-of-its-kind NIL deal for an amateur golfer. GSE will represent the rising star with all of his marketing and partnership deals. Phillips is considered one of the top collegiate golfers heading into his senior season, having racked up a slew of accolades in his career to-date, including the Dick Copas Award, SEC Freshman of the Year, and First-Team All-SEC three years running. He is the winner of the 2021 Sunnehanna Amateur and is also the owner of the best scoring average (69.75) in the school’s history which he accomplished as a sophomore. Phillips joins GSE’s talented golf roster that includes the likes of Lexi Thompson, Bryson DeChambeau and many more.

Born in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Trent Phillips has proven himself as a distinguished amateur player. As a high schooler, he racked up three individual state titles while guiding his team to four state titles. In his junior career, Phillips won a slew of awards and tournaments. In 2017, he was named on the Rolex Junior All-America First Team and in 2018, he was named to the All-USA Boys Second Team. In 2018, Phillips won the 2018 Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Award, which recognizes athletics, academics, character, and dedication to community service. Phillips was the youngest player to ever win the Palmetto Amateur and was also the youngest player to ever lead a round of the South Carolina Amateur. In 2018, he made it all the way to match play of the US Amateur.

“I’m extremely proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish thus far in my career and I’m excited to take the next step by joining the GSE family,” said Trent Phillips. “With their track record in the world of professional golf, I’m confident that they’re the perfect partner to help me elevate my marketing game off the course.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Trent join us at GSE,” added Mike Creasy of GSE Worldwide. “Trent’s amateur career has obviously been extremely impressive, and now he’s making history as the first amateur golfer to sign a NIL deal – we’re confident that the best is yet to come for Trent. This is just the next step on his journey as he continues to evolve both on and off the course.”

Phillips enters his senior season at the University of Georgia in 10th place on Georgia’s all-time list with 17 top-10 finishes. As one of collegiate golf’s top rising stars, he has already announced his intention to turn pro following his senior season.
