TeamWorks Media, the award-winning leaders in digital storytelling, today announced a landmark content partnership between its fast growing platform La Vida Baseball and the Houston Chronicle to provide print and video content for coverage of the Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and other features of interest. It is the first-ever content partnership between La Vida Baseball and a major news outlet.
La Vida Baseball (LVB) is the nation’s leading English-speaking Latino baseball digital media company which launched in 2017 as a partnership between TeamWorks Media and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. In the two seasons since its inception, La Vida Baseball has amassed more than 330,000 followers across its social platforms.
“This partnership with the Chronicle activates our mission to bring more Latino media voices to the growing Latino baseball fan base in the U.S.” said Jay Sharman, TeamWorks Media co-founder and CEO. “Consumers crave great content that is culturally relevant and engaging, and we are able to provide that content to local, regional and even national outlets with partnerships like this; it’s a win-win for all involved.”
“The perspective that La Vida Baseball brings to the reader is unique. It provides the Chronicle with additional resources, both in print and video, to give our readers the most complete coverage,” said Reid Laymance, Sports Editor of the Houston Chronicle. “We are looking forward to working together in a partnership that makes great sense for all of us, and especially for our readers.”
The Chronicle will publish selected articles in both its print and digital editions along with the inclusion of the La Vida Baseball logo and link to LaVidaBaseball.com. All written content will be overseen by Jose de Jesus Ortiz, Supervising Editor and Senior Writer of LVB. Ortiz is a former lead sports columnist for the St. Louis Dispatch as well as Astros beat writer and national baseball and soccer writer for the Houston Chronicle. La Vida Baseball will also provide video content on the Chronicle’s digital platform.
“La Vida Baseball Live” is the platform’s daily video outlet. It has surpassed 5.8 million in total audience reach in just five months since launch and is averaging more than 50,000 weekly views since June. The show is produced and formatted for every major social media platform – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram Live, YouTube and LaVidaBaseball.com. LVB Live is hosted by Jennifer Mercedes (La Chica Deportes) with daily contributors including Supervising Editor and Senior Writer Jose de Jesus Ortiz, Ozzie Guillén Jr., and Julie Alexandria. Through its partnership with the National Baseball Hall of Fame, LVB Live will be able to take its community to places and people they don’t have access to on any possible device.
