Floyd Mayweather has revealed the long term plans for 21-0 (20 KOs) Gervonta Davis. The Baltimore boxer has been chosen to be the next big franchise cash cow attraction by Al Haymon and Floyd Mayweather.
“I’m extremely proud of Tank,” Mayweather said. “No matter what, he’s young – he’s gonna go through things. My thing is this, and I told him … I want him to focus more on raising his seven-month-old] daughter and working hard in the gym, surpassing me. The ultimate goal – if any fighter can surpass me, it’s this young man right here, which I truly believe. He’s gonna be a household name. He’s gonna be a pay-per-view star. He’s gotta stay on the right path, though, and he has to listen because out of all the fighters in boxing right now, I’m the only one that knows what it takes to become that household name and to make nine figures in one night.”
These words signify that Al Haymon has designated Davis to be his next big star. And we all know what that means.
Davis will never lose. He will be as carefully protected as Mayweather and Deontay Wilder, matched only against in house hired patsies under the control of Mayweather and Haymon.
Davis will surely reach 30-0 and 40-0 and maybe even 50-0. But will the public buy this latest set up creation? Will Mayweather, Haymon’s promoter, be able to sell Davis to the extent that he becomes another mega star capable of million plus PPV numbers and stadium filling live gates?
Or will Davis be just another Haymon B level, protected fraud pretender who only appeals to a small segment of dimwits and imbeciles?
