BiofileRick Glaser Interview

By Scoop Malinowski

Status: Professional Boxing Businessman with three decades of worldwide boxing experience. Based in Buffalo, NY suburb Williamsville.

DOB: April 17, 1958  In: Buffalo, New York

First Boxing Memory: Ali-Frazier 1, March 8, 1971, was 12 years old and by myself to the Bailey Ave Movie Threater to watch the Close Circuit.

Favorite Movies: Godfather series.

First Boxer You Met Or Encountered: Joe Frazier, in 1972 at the Atlanta Airport, totally a chance meeting. That same day at the airport, I saw Pistol Pete Maravich. They both signed autographs for me. I donated these autographs in 1978 for a fund-raiser to help a dying man go on a final vacation back to his homeland Italy.

Greatest Career Moment: Paul Spadafora winning the IBF World Lightweight Championship, as I was his Matchmaker, and Paul was the first World Champ that I built from the fighter being a four-rounder forward.

Most Painful Moment: I can honestly say no painful moments myself, but watching fighters with great abilities not giving 100% of themselves to their craft is surely not pleasant.

Funniest Boxers/Boxing Figures: I have really never found any boxers funny, but boxing guys that are funny are Russell Peltz, Don Majeski, and Sean Gibbons.

Favorite Fights: So many favorite fights, all three Barrera-Morales fights top the list.

Favorite Fighters: Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis.

Embarrassing Boxing Memory: Nothing to do with me, but Mike Tyson biting Evander Holyfield’s ears would top all.

Closest Boxing Friends: Don Majeski, Brad Goodman, Russell Peltz, and Carl King.

First Job: Cleaning the used car lots my Father owned, starting at age 5, 1963, for 50 cents an hour, and my Father used to tell me, “Faster, because your overpaid.”

Favorite Meal: Italian, favorite dish is Pasta Bolognese, and Linguine with white clam sauce.

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: is easily Banana.

Childhood Dream: I’m living it, doing what you love for a living, and being great at it, it doesn’t get any better than that.

People Qualities Most Admired: Being forthright, earnest, straight-forward, punctuality, and simply “do what you said you were going to do, and do it in a timely fashion.”

Why Do You Love Boxing: I love boxing because man’s first instinct is ultimate survival, and that truly is what boxing is.

Your Legacy In Boxing: My legacy, I hope should be of a man that got things done at a very professional level in the best interest of my clients, and in the process made it more comfortable for others in the murky waters of Professional Boxing, and I did it daily, consistently.
