Rutgers won 2 games in 2016 to Howard (FCS) and New Mexico. Rutgers defeated Howard by a score of 52-14 and came from behind to beat New Mexico 37-28. Against the Lobos, the Scarlet Knights trailed 21-0 in the first half but rallied to get the win at home.

 

 
Rutgers lost 10 games in 2016 to FBS opponents (Washington, Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan State, Penn State and Maryland) with a combined overall record of 79-51 or .607%.
