The New York Islanders have enjoyed a strong opening to February, going 5-3 over the first half of the month and 6-4 in their last 10 games, dating back to the end of January. That was needed with the New York Rangers just ahead of them in the Metropolitan Division standings and with both NYC squads still holding out hope in taking down the first-place Washington Capitals.
While taking down Washington anytime soon is unrealistic (the Capitals have 10 more wins), sneaking into second place is a goal that could be accomplished as early as Sunday night. Separated by just two wins and one loss, the Islanders have little ground to make up if they want to leapfrog the hated Rangers for second place inside the division. The best part? Fans get a solid return on their investment in the process, with New York Islanders tickets failing to top even $118 on average this week.
Islanders tickets present solid value and New York’s play of late has excitement surrounding the team only increasing. Let’s see if there is reason for it to grow even more this week, as we break down the value and matchups slated for the rest of this week, per Ticketmaster.com:
2/18/2016 – New York Islanders vs. Washington Capitals at Barclays Center | Avg: $104.42 | Get-in: $15
And right off the bat, the answer is obvious: Islanders tickets are booming with value. That’s probably going to be the case for the remainder of the regular season as their $118 average is really strong. This one obviously takes the cake for several reasons, though. Not only are the Islanders at home for an intense Metro Division showdown, but the Capitals bring hockey’s best record (40-10-4) into Barclays Center. Washington will surely be the favorites to register a big road win, but the Islanders are unlikely to go down quietly at home, where they’ve been a solid 19-8-3 on the season. Fans are getting insane value here from top to bottom, while lower level seating can be found for as low as $50 (Section 31). Just $35 more expensive than the cheap seats, that could be the bargain to chase for this awesome rivalry clash.
2/19/2016 – New York Islanders @ New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center | Avg: $117.22 | Get-in: $43
The value and matchup can’t get much better than a home date with the Capitals, but February 19 does it’s best with a battle at the Prudential Center with the New Jersey Devils. New Jersey is just as much a bitter rival for the Islanders, as this matchup gives fans yet another killer Metro battle. Fans will have to hit the road for this one, but it’s not too far away for the Islanders faithful and the value is still rock solid. Fans only have to pay about $13 more on average to get in this one, while the cheap seats go for as little as $36. Fans looking for a little more bang for their buck can consider the premium seating for this one, too, with lower level tickets to be had as cheap as $75 (Section 16).
Fans looking for the perfect time to take the Islanders in live couldn’t hope for a better week, as a light two-game week boasts two massive Metro Division showdowns. The ridiculous matchups, win/loss ramifications and overall value only add to the allure. Fans can act now and get their Islanders tickets at Ticketmaster.com.
