With Big Games Throughout February, Islanders Seek To Continue Rolling

The NHL All-Star break was fun while it lasted, but it’s back to work for the New York Islanders on Tuesday, when they host the Minnesota Wild at Barclays Center. New York went into the All-Star festivities in need of a break, but their strong 25-16-6 record at the intermission has them in position to make some serious noise when it comes to NHL playoff seeding.
It’s likely there is no talk to be had of taking down the mighty Washington Capitals (first in the Metropolitan division), but the Islanders can still try. Just two wins back behind the New York Rangers for third place in the division, the Islanders still have hopes of making a run for the division crown and at worst can cement a spot in the NHL playoffs if they can just keep their third-place spot. They’ll need a strong February to stay the course, however, as Pittsburgh, New Jersey and Carolina are nipping at their heels inside the division.

New York’s most expensive home game of the month comes on the 15th, when they welcome the ever powerful Red Wings to town. Detroit is always a handful, and they’re enjoying another solid year with a 25-16-8 mark through the first half of the season. Fans are in for a killer discount for this one, as it’s almost a full $20 cheaper on average than the showdown between these two at Joe Louis Arena. New York’s solid 15-8-3 home mark will be put on the line, but at least fans can hit the cheap seats for merely the cost of parking.
2/18/2016 – New York Islanders vs. Washington Capitals at Barclays Center | Avg: $109.96 | Get-in: $15
New York is still a ways away from seriously contending for the top spot in the Metropolitan division, but a good way to inch closer is to take down the division-leading Capitals. Washington comes into town with just eight losses on the year and a pretty formidable road record (17-5-2), so gaining a momentous home win will be no lock on February 18. This is still as big as the regular season games can get, though, while the value is through the roof with lower level seating going as low as $50.
2/7/2016 – New York Islanders vs. Edmonton Oilers at Barclays Center | Avg: $79.35 | Get-in: $15
Even though this third game with the Edmonton Oilers comes in as New York’s third “most expensive” home game of the month, it’s still under $80 on average and fans can pay as little as $15 for the cheap seats. Lower level seating starts as low as $50, while fans aren’t paying much overall to see a likely win over one of the worst teams in the league. Edmonton has struggled to a 19-26-5 start and rests at the bottom of the Pacific division, while they’ve won just six games on the road all year.
2/11/2016 – New York Islanders vs. Los Angeles Kings at Barclays Center | Avg: $73.80 | Get-in: $15
Fans get an elite showdown on February 11, when the 30-16-3 LA Kings come into town. The Kings have fared much better than the Islanders to this point and lead the way in the Pacific division and represent quite the challenge. On paper these two sides are fairly evenly matched, however, so fans should get a solid contest. Luckily it’s also a strong value, with neither side having to pay over $74 on average for this one. Fans can get in the door for as little as $15, while lower level New York Islanders tickets can be found as cheap as $41 on Ticketmaster.com.
2/2/2016 – New York Islanders vs. Minnesota Wild at Barclays Center | Avg: 43 | Get-in: $15
Home hockey games at Barclays Center don’t get much better than this, when fans can get in for just $43 on average to see the Islanders take on the Wild on Tuesday night. Minnesota has a similar record and will need this win just as bad as New York, but a pedestrian 9-9-6 road record probably has this one in the Islanders’ favor. Fans won’t go disappointed either way, though, as fans can get in for as low as $15, while tickets on the lower levels can be found for as little as $39.
