Pacquaio Packs Politics, Boxing, Into His Business

We have heard a good amount about Floyd Mayweather since his mega-meeting with Manny Pacquiao and then his supposed last-ever fight with Andre Berto, but what’s been up with the legendary boxer from The Philippines.

He surfaced this week to accept the Asian Game Changers Award from the Asia Society, and talked about getting back in the ring and even running for President…of the Philippines (where he is the only boxing senator we know of). Pacquaio caught up with Bloomberg TV’s Stephanie Ruhle and David Westin on Bloomberg TV’s new flagship morning program, Bloomberg <GO> and said he is all ready to get back in the ring, Mayweather or even others.

He also took a shot at the champ, saying he was not the best fighter he ever faced. “There was a lot of best fighter that I fought before… Like De La Hoya. Marquez, De La Hoya, Marquez, Miguel Cotto, with Ricky Hatton, yes, and of course Margarito.”

When asked if he wants to run for president, he said: “That’s not in my mind right now. My focus is to run as a senator, which is higher than as a congressman. So this is step by step.”

With boxing again in a lull, having a mouthy Manny is much needed both on the business side and in the ring, so it’s good to hear the former champ getting jazzed about the fight game, and a possible rematch.

The whole interview about the business of Manny can be seen here.
