Kodansha’s Comic Plus official Twitter account revealed recently that the live-action film of Naoshi Arakawa’s “Your Lie in April”(Japanese title:“Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso”) will debut in Japan this September.

Your Lie in April follows the story of a child prodigy that loses his ability to play the piano after his mother’s death. However, after a chance encounter with an outgoing violinist, his former monochrome view of the world becomes colorful through his rediscovery of music.

Kento Yamazaki (Kakeru in the live-action version of “Orange,” L in the live-action series “Death Note”) will star alongside Suzu Hirose (Chihaya in “Chihayafuru: Shimo no Ku,” Suzu in the live-action film “Umimachi Diary”) as piano prodigy Kousei Arima and free-spirited violinist Kaori Miyazono.

Anna Ishii of J-POP group E-Girls as Tsubaki Sawabe and Taishi Nakagawa (Hiroshi in “Ao Oni ver.2.0,” Minami in the live-action series “Minami-kun no Koibito ~my little lover”) will join the cast as Kousei’s childhood friends, Tsubaki Sawabe and Ryota Watari.

The film’s behind-the-scenes team includes director Takehiko Shinjo (“Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu,” “Kiyoku Yawaku”) and scriptwriter Yukari Tatsui (“Strawberry Night”).

The original run of Arakawa’s manga released in 2011 while the anime adaptation was released in the fall of 2014. Aniplex of America streamed Your Love in April on Aniplex Channel, Hulu, and Crunchyroll as it aired overseas in Japan.
