This panel took attendees into a very serious problem that happens too often at comic conventions

Cosplay is not consent. What is that and what does it mean? It is something that most attendees of will see posted all over that lets them know of an issue that can sour the experience of people attending comic conventions and if bad enough can straight up ruin the whole event for them. SacAnime in September 2015 had an alarming amount of incidents that happened to a number of the attendees and those in charge decided to do something about it. This last weekend they put on a panel all about this issue that was powerful, sometimes hilarious but overall informed them that this is a serious issue and it will not be tolerated. The panel members told personal stories, experiences and gave some very good reasons why this is a problem and some simple solutions to help put an end to it.

The first panelist was named Lindsay (Harley Quinn) and they gave a strong stance on what does consent mean and you can see what they said below.

Next Ophelia Love (Vaporeon) started with the audio of a short video that to some people may have felt out of place but fit the context of the panel perfectly. Watch it in its entirety here.

The final panelist named Nic (Saffron) took a more serious approach and brought a number of solutions to what should be done if an attendee feels they are in danger or if they are uncomfortable. You can see that part here.

The panel ended with the moderator Emma giving some final points on what a bystander is and helped bring a satisfying finale to this panel. Take a peek at it below

This was one of the best panels they had at SacAnime this weekend. It is a real shame that things like this happen to people who only want to have fun, dress as their favorite characters and have a good time. It is an issue that is happening too often and hopefully with panels like this a dent will be made that will set the tone for future conventions. I personally want to thank SacAnime for bringing this panel, hopefully many people learned a lot of great information from it.
