Top Five Cosplay Costumes You Will See Most During The 2016 Con Season
As we head into the New Year, cosplayers are planning their travels to potential cons and planning out their future cosplay costumes. With everything that was popular in 2015 (film, comics, anime) there are a lot of various cosplay costume looks to choose from. From that I have surmised what 2016 most popular cosplays costumes might be…so let’s get started.
Every New Character from Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Star Wars fare is a con usual. You see it everywhere, all the time. But with new characters Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, and Poe Dameron, I expect people to be working extra hard to achieve that Star Wars likeness.
One Punch Man
Popular anime One Punch Man is one of 2015’s anime/manga breakout hits. It has managed to break through to the mainstream, and entertain even the novice anime watcher. The man with the golden arm of death Saitama and his android friend Genos have charmed audiences and cosplayers alike. This is great for a pair cosplay.
The Gangsta Trinity
Another anime breakout hit in 2015 is Gangsta. Nicolas Brown and Warwick Arcangelo are the “Handymen.” Tough guys for hire in the city of Ergastulum. After they rescue Alex Benedetto, ‘the handymen’ go from a duo to trio. The three of them are wicked cool, and it would be hard to resist this small group cosplay. The looks are simple, but will make a huge impact by giving the wearer an edge.
Suicide Squad (movie) Harley Quinn and Joker
If I had a dollar for every time I saw Harley Quinn cosplay, I would be independently wealthy. Thanks to Warner Brothers and the Suicide Squad releasing their own interesting version of the Harley Quinn look, cosplayers have gone crazy trying to achieve its likeness. Its simple, yet shows off Harley’s colorful style.
The Joker is also a simple look, if you don’t mind looking like a blinged out pimp who likes purple. I mean that’s what the look is, but it looks great. Real nice for a pair cosplay.
I had no idea just how popular Vocaloid Diva Hatsune Miku was until I saw her on David Letterman. The Japanese hologram songstress is truly taking the world by storm and has grown in popularity in the United States. Now that she will be on her U.S. tour in 2016, I am sure fans will want to honor her by getting gussied up like the famous singer.
