Korean Rapper Yezi Won’t Let Rap Track, ‘Crazy Dog’ Go
We first heard ‘Crazy Dog’ from Korean rapper Yezi back in September for the Korean reality TV show Unpretty Rapstar 2, episode 3, rapper Yezi, had to show her rap skills in order to survive elimination. At the time it was the most explosive and eye-opening performances of the reality TV show. However, the rap track ‘Crazy Dog’ might just be hindering the fierce rapper from moving forward.
Throughout the show, ‘Crazy Dog’ was referenced quite often by Yezi, and was also performed in order to revive her appearance for the final round. Instead of showing the judges a different side of herself and skills, Yezi stuck with the fierce image that goes with the track until the last episode when she showcased a sexier side. Yezi’s final Unpretty Rapstar song ‘Treat Me Roughly’, has a fun beat, but her pattern of repetitive choruses with little depth was not competition material. Sadly, her change of pace (overdue and lackluster) was too little, too late and she wasn’t able to win against her opponent.
Now in December 2015, Yezi has released a single version of ‘Crazy Dog’ featuring Unpretty Rapstar’s host, San E. Maybe there was something holding back the release of the song, but really, the act seems more like an attempt of someone trying to hold onto their ‘fifteen minutes of fame. Even if that is not the case, Yezi should really put her ‘Crazy Dog’ to rest. It’s time to release something new, and show the world the type of rapper she really is. I am not sure why she feels she must keep up this hardcore persona. Yezi should definitely follow up with a mini album or EP and fast! That is, if she doesn’t want to get stuck being a one hit wonder with ‘Crazy Dog’!
